FoRKs are better than knives

I'm not a real doofus, but I play one at a national laboratory. (BAISLEY@fndcd.fnal.gov)

FoRKs have standards, even if their IP addresses aren't well defined:

doofus.fnal.gov> whois FSINET-DOM
Fork Standards, Inc. (FSINET-DOM)
668 Western Ave.
Lombard, IL 60148-2097

Knives, on the other hand, have well-defined addresses, but provoke laws:

...

6.It is illegal, and severely punishable, to offer or sell a
switchblade to any civilian or military employee of the federal
government. Only under certain precisely defined circumstances
may an approved manufacturer of switchblades sell these knives
to government agencies.

By all means, let's keep dangerous stuff (switchblades, broken bottles, key
escrow servers) out of the hands of government officials!

Cheers,
Wayne

FoRK, n. An instrument used chiefly for the purpose of putting dead animals
into the mouth. Formerly the knife was employed for this purpose, and by many
worthy persons is still thought to have many advantages over the other tool,
which, however, they do not altogether reject, but use to assist in charging
the knife. The immunity of these persons from swift and awful death is one of
the most striking proofs of God's mercy to those that hate Him.
