> ANNAN REPORTEDLY BELIEVES INSPECTORS AIDED U.S.

Chief U.N. weapons inspector Richard Butler will be forced to defend
himself Wednesday in the wake of a damaging report claiming his teams
helped collect sensitive Iraqi communications for the United States. The
report claims U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan has evidence implicating
the teams who helped the United States in its plans to undermine Saddam
Hussein's regime. Butler was said to have denied any such involvement when
questioned by his superior.
