Identity is the almost universal solution to all forms of piracy.

But lets follow the money...

ScalpMaster doesn't have print a ticket and send it out to you,
which I believe is the only thing they have to do other then run some
computers and call centers. They reduce their costs to a 'click here',
further discourage the call-ins, and encourage the use of lower cost
eTickets.

Non-sanctioned ticket scalpers are of no concern to ScalpMasters, they
still make the same amount reguardless, and even sell the tickets in
large blocks to the scalpers. You don't really think that 15 year olds
sell out an arena in 8 minutes do you?

Checking identity would only increase the personel costs at the venues,
which wouldn't fly well with the owners, and would decrease the money
the performers get in the end. Two large groups that ScalpMaster already
pisses off. Not to mention ID's are trivial to fake with the same 300dpi
printers, so there really is no point.

Therefore we end up with a system with a dozen attack vectors I can
think of off the top of my head, and we're stuck right back where we
were - the customer gets screwed.
