Dear Advisory Committee Representative,=20

It is with heavy heart that I write to inform you that, effective Septemb=
er
11, 1998, I will be resigning my position as Head of Communications at W3=
C. I
have accepted an offer to join Cambridge Technology Partners as Solutions
Architect/Associate Director in the Interactive Solutions Domain.=20

This has been an extremely difficult decision for me. I have spent the pa=
st
two and a half years contributing to what I consider to be one of the mos=
t
important organizations I have ever worked in. The task of designing and
agreeing on future directions of the Web is a difficult technical and
political process. I believe that the Consortium's success is due to a un=
ique
combination of vision, tireless dediction and an established yet flexible
process. I am honored to have had the opportunity to participate in this
effort.=20

Josef Dietl will be assuming the role of Acting Head of Communications un=
til
a permanent replacement is determined. As you know, Josef has been active=
ly
involved with the Communications Team since joining the Consortium in Jun=
e
1997, and has played an integral role in Member relations, marketing
communications, and extending W3C's presence in Europe. It is my pleasure=
to
pass the baton to my esteemed colleague and
trusted friend; I am confident in Josef's abilities and know that he will
continue to make significant contributions to the Consortium on a global
scale.=20

My heartfelt thanks to Tim Berners-Lee, Jean-Fran=E7ois Abramatic, the W3=
C
Team, and the entire W3C Membership -- especially the members of the Advi=
sory
Committee and Advisory Board, as well as the Chairs of W3C's Working and
Interest Groups. I am proud to have earned your trust and confidence in
allowing me to develop and extend my vision into this
amazing organization. Thank you for believing in my intuition and for you=
r
support of my unique approach in helping lay the foundations for what is =
the
Consortium today.=20

I continue to be an enthusiastic champion of W3C. I salute your commitmen=
t
and am convinced that W3C is the ideal organization to lead the evolution=
and
ensure the long-term interoperability of the Web. To that end, CTP is
planning to join W3C soon and has positioned me to serve as their Advisor=
y
Committee Representative.

Please join me in welcoming Josef to his new post; we both look forward t=
o
this new opportunity with much enthusiasm.=20

Best regards,=20
Sally Khudairi and Josef Dietl
