A patent lawyer friend of mine pointed out the IBM Patent server site,
located at:

http://patent.womplex.ibm.com/

The intro to the site tells it all:

Welcome to the IBM Patent Server. With this World Wide Web server, IBM lets
you access over 26 years of U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) patent
descriptions as well as the last 23 years of images. The first entries date
back to January 5, 1971. You can search, retrieve and study over two
million patents. There are What's New? and FAQ pages, as well as
information on the interesting history and background of this site and a
patent Resource Page.

Of more recent interest, this site has the text of the Novadigm patent, at
