How is the Internet like professional wrestling?

No, it's not because Bill Gates and Marc Andreessen
are frequently
mistaken for Hulk Hogan and Rowdy Roddy Piper.
Rather, it is
because both organizations feature a confusing set
of officials that
make the rules, and because there often seems to be
more champions
than challengers.

Wrestling has the WWF, the WCW, and others; the
Internet has the
likes of the W3C, IETF, ECMA, and OMG. With so many
organizations sanctioning different standards, is
it possible to know
the appropriate authority to petition?

Care about people's approval and you will be their prisoner.
