I noticed on Joe's page the following:

Education: Diplom-Informatik Degree, TU Berlin, Germany, 1993 (equivalent
to Master's Degree in Computer Science)
Master's Degree in Information and Computer Science, University of
California, Irvine, 1998
Graduate Student in Computer Science at the University of California,
Irvine

Joe, just remember, you won't stay young forever. Don't think you will be
flying planes when you are one of us, the over 40 engineer. If congress has
their way with H-1B, you could be jobless way faster than you could possibly
imagine. You will be surprised how fast you become "old".
