No need for apologies; batch mode rules. Amortize overhead,
spot the truly important and ignore the dross, etc.

The other day, it occured to me that there are some parallels
between life and water of life: if you have a top shelf day,
you probably take the care to savor it, sip slowly, enjoy
company and conversation. On the other hand, a rotgut day
encourages the shot-slamming approach: get it over with fast,
and line up another quickly, in hopes of obtaining ends rather
than enjoying means.
