Long-time Forks will recall my original post about the SETI@home project,
http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/, which plans to harness the power of
many computers to chomp and grind Arecibo data to see if, indeed, an
intelligent signal was received from space.

When last reported, SETI@home was still undergoing development -- now they
are at long last about to release their software. The Unix client is
available now, for Linux, Alpha, Aix, Solaris, Ultrix and more, with Mac and
Windows clients due about May 15.

It doesn't look like they are set up for team work, like the distributed.net
folks, but it does look like they will be recording individual totals, so
perhaps we can make a "fork" individual...
