A few thoughts:
1. This post was incredibly well done.
2. I believe that the social benefit to generating useful products based
upon knowledge is the key, and 'copy tolls' are the key means of protecting
this in the software.
3. I'm far less impressed by the utility of finely grained software patents,
hence I'm suspicious of 'idea licenses' in this context.
